Senator Jordan Dupré is reluctant to revisit her past. That thought crumbles at the sight of Deacon Burke. His commanding presence and charming smile transports her back to her youth. Back then, she kissed, loved, lied, and left him—taking a life-changing secret with her.
Scorned by Jordan’s dishonesty, Deke swears he never wants to see her lying face again. However, his heart knows better, and he never stops thinking of her. When Jordan’s husband is killed, Deke is summoned to the Senator’s aid, by an unlikely source—Unfortunately, he brings a secret of his own.
Will secrets from their past reignite their cherished moments?
The pump above the door hissed when Jordan turned the doorknob and then pushed against her office door. To get inside normally took effort. Today, the door glided inward as if the hinges were oiled. Suddenly she realized Deke’s hand palmed the door high above her head. She eyed his earthen-hued forearm, slid across his muscled biceps, and then across his broad shoulder, before finally lingering on his handsome, clean-shaven features.
Still longing for him, her mouth went dry. The hardness in his fathomless brown eyes evaporated the longer she looked at him. Soon, his stare held no hint of whatever was there before. His eyes caressed her the way they did when they were young and in love.
“Oh, Deke,” Jordan lied. “I forgot you were here.” To have him know how his presence affected her would unleash a storm of emotions. There was no way she would whip herself in his presence.
There’s a storm brewing on the horizon. Will Jordan and Deke weather it together?
